Objectives


RL.6.7 Compare and contrast the experience of reading a story, drama, or poem to listening to or viewing an audio, video, or live version of the text, including contrasting what they "see" and "hear" when reading the text to what they perceive when they listen or watch.



Activities
March 5, 2018

Periods 1,2,5
  • Bell work: Students read the article on fiction in google classroom and respond to the question in their journals.
  • Introduce Unit 5.
  • Watch "A Cry in the Wild" and fill out Venn Diagram while watching the movie comparing the movie with Hatchet.
  • With their partner the students will discuss what they see that is different and similar so far and how it changed their understanding of the story.
  • Exit ticket: What do you see/hear when reading Hatchet? Was it the same or different when you watched “A Cry in the Wild?” Explain your answer

Period 4:
  • Bellwork: Students read the article on fiction in google classroom and respond to the question in their journals.
  • When do we use R.A.C.E.?
  • Students continue get onto their narrative documents and continue working on their Resolutions.
  • Work time: Students will respond to the prompt on the story.
    • Exit ticket: Self evaluation on their participation while writing.

Homework
Periods 1,2,5: No Homework 

Period 4:
Complete Narratives 

The end of unit four is Friday 3/2: The students' survival narrative writing assessment for unit 4 is due by Monday 3/5.

Remember period 1 to sign and turn in the Home Energy Action
form if you want to support Rocky Top
and save energy in your home.

Do not forget to purchase a copy of Hatchet so your student can have a copy at home since the classroom copies stay in the classroom.
