      • Bellwork: Turn in Compare and Contrast Charts for "The Flaming Sky". Read the article on Memoir and answer the questions.
      • Mini-lesson: Review with students how to fill out the compare and contrast chart. Watch introduction video "Titanic: the ship of dreams"
      • Work time: Students read the article "Into the Dark Water" taking notes on how the article is presenting the event. When done, they will share what they found with their partners.
      • Exit TIcket: How does "into the Dark Water" present the sinking of the Titanic?

        • Mini-lesson: Model for the students how to fill out the compare and contrast chart.

        • Work time: Students will independently fill out the compare and contrast chart for "Werner Franz".
        • Exit TIcket: How are the events depicted in "The Flaming Sky" and "Werner Franz" alike and different? Use examples from the texts in your comparison.
