RL.6.7 Compare and contrast the experience of reading a story, drama, or poem to listening to or viewing an audio, video, or live version of the text, including contrasting what they "see" and "hear" when reading the text to what they perceive when they listen or watch.

  • Library
  • Brief Admissions ticket: What in language arts, what does the term "different media" mean?
  • Watch "A Cry in the Wild" and fill out Venn Diagram while watching the movie comparing the movie with Hatchet.
  • With their partner, the students will answer/discuss the question: How is the director choosing to portray the themes of the Hatchet so far in "A Cry in the Wild"? How are those decisions affecting/changing or influencing your understanding of the story?
  • Exit ticket: Explain the differences between what you see and hear when reading Hatchet to your perception of what you hear and watch in “A Cry in the Wild. Answer in a well-structured paragraph.

    Remember period 1 to sign and turn in the Home Energy Action
    form if you want to support Rocky Top
    and save energy in your home.

    Do not forget to purchase a copy of Hatchet so your student can have a copy at home since the classroom copies stay in the classroom.
