"Compare and contrast texts in different forms or genres [e.g.,
stories and poems; historical novels and fantasy stories] in terms
of their approaches to similar themes and topics").





Activities
April 6, 2018
  • Bellwork: Students will copy and paste their literary analysis introductions into the introduction check document on google classroom, then independent read.
  • Mini-Lesson: Rehash body paragraphs and editing and giving feedback norms.
  • Work time: Finish their body paragraphs 1 and 2.
  • Active engagement: Peer editing and feedback.
  • Exit ticket: Self-evaluation
Self-evaluation on their use of time while writing. What clarifications they would like me to go over tomorrow.
    Homework
    Periods 1,2,5: Finish their body paragraphs 1 and 2 for their literary analysis essay by class time Monday, 4/9. A document is in google classroom with the requirements for the first two body paragraphs.

        • Mini-Lesson: Review the parts of a literary analysis body paragraph.
        • Active Engagement: Students will analyze the components of a literary analysis body paragraph.
        • Work time: Students will write their first body paragraph analyzing how the novel Hatchet illustrates/presents the theme "the courage to persevere".
        • Exit ticket: Self-evaluation
