Objectives

RL.6.5 - Analyze how a particular sentence, chapter, scene, or stanza fits into the overall structure of a text and contributes to the development of the theme, setting, or plot.



Activities
February 9, 2018


  • Warm up: Students will respond to the admission ticket questions in google classroom.
  • Book groups: Students will rallyrobin their responses to the admission ticket, then they will find discuss the questions and find citations to support their responses together as a group.
  • Students will then respond to the post discussion prompt using the information they found with their group.
Writing Prompt: Brian is a self proclaimed city boy. During his months out in nature, he learns a lot about himself. What is the novel saying about humans and survival? In what ways has society helped prepare Brian to survive? In what ways has society served as a disservice to Brian when it comes to him surviving in the wild? Use evidence (direct quotes) from the text to support your answer(s).
  • Closure: Students will fill out then fill out their peer evaluation worksheets.

form if you want to support Rocky Top
and save energy in your home.

This up coming Tuesday (2/13) is our library day so make sure your student has the book(s) they need to turn in. 

Do not forget to purchase a copy of Hatchet so your student can have a copy at home since the classroom copies stay in the classroom.
