Objectives	SL.6.1 - Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions. Come to discussions prepared, having read required material. W.6.1 - Write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence. W.6.9 - Draw evidence from informational text to support analysis, reflection, and research.
Activities	December 14, 2017 Watch Video on the great depression Day 1: Reading "Duel in the Snow, or Red Ryder Nails the Cleveland Street Kid" (A Christmas Story) with audio.
Homework	No homework unless you are behind in your argument essays.  The students who are behind have a packet that tells them what they need to do for each section and gives them an example.
Reminders	Friday is the final day for the students to hand-in their argument essays. Students who are behind and/or were absent and need to catch up must do so by this Friday, 12/15.  Hygiene Drive for the Homeless!! Aspen House is being asked to donate toothpaste, tooth brushes and men’s deoderant.

Activities	December 13, 2017 Annotate articles "Do Experiences Or Material Goods Make Us Happier?" and "Stud: Experiences Make Us Happier Than Possessions" for textual evidence for both sides of the argument. Write a two paragraph response. Choose a side and use one article from both texts to support your opinion.
Homework	No homework unless you are behind in your argument essays.  The students who are behind have a packet that tells them what they need to do for each section and gives them an example.

Activities	December 12, 2017 Bell work: Capitalization worksheet.  Read and Annotate "Your Favorite Drinks Can Wreck Your Health" for text structures.

Activities	December 11, 2017 Bell work: Fixing the feedback I gave them on the argument essays over the weekend.   Peer evaluate argument essay: body paragraphs and grammar/punctuation.
